Miniature Shadow Applique Quilt Kits with Julia Gahagan
Classes with Julia Gahagan • Educational, G, 21-May-2021
The shadow applique technique works so very well with tiny pieces of fabric. There is no need for you to sew round this little shapes. They are trapped beneath the net/organza layer, and the quilting is really simple and straightforward too. You can do clever swirly free motion, or just straight line by hand or machine. So very achievable for everyone, particularly beginners.
Julia talks about how she loves to create scenes with little houses and villages. She has also been inspired by her visits to the Greek Islands for her kits.
Julia is a self taught quilter learning mainly from books and short workshops. Eventually she signed up for the City & Guilds qualification where she learnt how to develop her own design skills.
Her main passion is to make miniature quilts. This is because they are fun to make. They are also great to give as gifts to family and friends and much quicker than large quilts.
