Classes with Rosee Woodland

Rosee is an expert in knit/crochet/sew pattern design, with a gift for helping knitters and crocheters get to grips with the basics. After cutting her teeth as editor of The Knitter and Knit Today magazines, Rosee decided it was time to fly solo! She enjoys passing on her love of all things woolly to her students, teaching knitters everything from sock knitting to how to design their own sweaters. Rosee is known for her colourful designs and Scandi-inspired style, creating patterns for Debbie Bliss, Knit Now, The Knitter, Simply Knitting, Noro, Araucania, Deramores and more. When she’s not teaching or designing she works as a technical editor for yarn companies and other independent designers, and writes for a range of crafty publications.

Signature Technique:

Colourwork patterns and traditional techniques, with a special interest in Icelandic sweaters, Fair Isle mittens, and navy fisherman’s ganseys.

Rosee’s Top Tips:

- Read your pattern all the way through before casting on. If there’s something you don’t understand, check our knitting video archive for the answer!
- Take time to swatch if you’re making a garment. On a small project like a hat or mitts if you don’t get the correct tension your item might be a bit too big or small but it’ll fit someone. - - When you’ve got scores of stitches on your needles for a garment a difference in tension could make it completely unwearable!
- ‘Block’ your knits by steaming them or soaking in warm water and leaving them to dry flat.
- When buying yarn, make sure the tension on the label matches the tension in your pattern, and make sure your dye lots match too! Most yarn shops will put a couple of extra balls by for you if you’re not sure how much you’ll need.
