Hand Appliqué for the Grandmother's Fan Block
Classes with Valerie Nesbitt • Educational, G, 01-May-2013
Beginners Guide
In the video, you will learn a traditional patchwork block that needs to be applied to the background. Doing this block by hand makes for a very portable project.
This is not an in-depth appliqué workshop, but a good beginners guide to what you need to consider and the basic tools needed.
And you should also consider cutting away the background fabric afterwards. Watch to know how to do it.
For more detailed stitching information, you can watch Maggie Davies's workshop on Hawaiian appliqué but obviously you don't need to do the cutting out.
If you want to think about doing appliqué by machine, you can consider Invisible Machine Appliqué with Dawn Cameron-Dick.
