A Wander Around Oliven, a Quilt Shop in Suffolk
Classes with Vendulka Battais • Educational, G, 03-Jun-2022
Vendulka displays her inspirational work throughout her gallery studio.
In this fascinating studio tour with Valerie, she highlights work completed during the lockdown period, referring to pieces displayed as she describes her methods and thinking.
A variety of designs are on display, demonstrating hand and machine stitching and embroidery, combined with patchwork quilts. These result in displays of stunning asymmetric mandala quilts, challenging cathedral window patterns and fabric stained glass window designs. She also reminds us that there is no such thing as a mistake – it is merely a design opportunity.
Vendulka loves to utilise words in her quilts and selects the words to provide comfort to the reader. Similarly, her heirloom quilt provides a fabric reminder of an epic trip to the other side of the world.
Find out more about her cathedral windows method and her award winning quilts.
Vendulka’s products are available in the shop at www.justhands-on.tv and via her website, www.oliven.co.uk.
