Thread Painting with Variable Zigzag
Embroidery • Educational, G, 27-Dec-2021
A recurring theme in this video is “Just have a play…see where you go with it.”
Thread painting with variable zigzag is like free motion embroidery with the machine doing the zigzagging for you.
In this video, Jayne Brogan and Valerie Nesbitt show you how to use the variable zigzag function on your sewing machine. This includes using the knee lift to widen or narrow your stitch based on the pressure from your knee.
There is a mesmerising bit in this video where you will see the stitch, the knee lift and the machine panel changing together. It really is something to see. Even more fun to do!
Jayne assures us that “you’ll find your rhythm after a while” and enjoy an amazing thread painting result.
This video is also part of the #IDidntLikeToAsk Video series hosted by Valerie Nesbitt and Jayne Brogan.
