Description

Sue loves fabrics and colour as can be seen in her Coral Reef and Volcano inspired improv quilts.

Improv patchwork gives permission to break from accuracy as there are no straight line or seams to match. Utilising  10″ charm squares or layer cakes and a rotary cutter, Sue cuts gentle curves to produce improv ripples. There’s no squaring up with improv blocks.

She demonstrates a simple method for sewing curved seams together an inch at a time. The resulting blocks produce a variety of options for a beautiful quilt.

At this point Sue loves placing the blocks in fun layouts as she says, “With Improv, you just improvise”.

Tips for quilting and binding the quilt are helpful although with the curved edges the binding will need to be bias.
