TASTER: Scrap 9 Patch Quilt with Valerie Nesbitt
FREE Tasters (Quilting) • Educational, G, 26-Jun-2020
Valerie was inspired by a picture of a traditional scrap nine-patch quilt on the front of a calendar. She realised that she could turn those little 2" x 5" braids into one too.
Valerie suggests strip piecing and then sub-cutting as this gives a more precise set of 3 squares, which in turn gives you perfect piecing.
The nine patch blocks are then set on point with a plain square separating them. This gives a calmer look to the quilt. Then you add the setting triangles to sew the diagonal rows, which again Valerie guides you through.
Valerie refers to the fact that she had used the 2" x 5" scraps in a braid quilt. You can enjoy this braid workshop by clicking here.
