Meet Helen Deighan - a Multi-Talented Lady
Interviews with Textile Art Artists • Educational, G, 01-Aug-2011
A little bit about Helen Deighan
As a professional textile artist, she’s been making quilts since 1984.
Initially working from existing patterns, she soon started developing her designs. And, when she couldn’t find the right color or shade to fit – she dyed her own. You can watch her workshops here on the site.
Helen lives in Grayshott with my husband, a professional jazz musician.
I have two children, Emma, my daughter, who also lives in Grayshott with her little Jack Russel called Jack, and my son Ben who lives in Australia with his family – hence the regular visits down under. Besides sewing, knitting, and now spinning, I also enjoy gardening.
Having been a teacher for over 40 years, she enjoys organizing workshops where people can learn new techniques in a friendly and non-threatening environment.
In 2002 she opened her studio, which is purpose-built and ideal for dyeing and sewing workshops.
