Sewing with the Old Irish with Karen Nicol
Out and About • Educational, G, 01-Sep-2014
Karen just loves her old Irish Singer sewing machine, and you can’t fail to be inspired by her skill with just thread and the basic zig zag stitch.
We get to see how with no feed dogs and changing the tension in the bobbin, Karen creates lace and other works of art, which she adds to her textile projects. This has obviously been a lifelong love affair to create this level of skill, however, we can see how easy it is to cover threads, use thicker threads, to create texture.
Originally a fashion designer Karen now enjoys turning her talents to textile art. To learn more about her click here.
We have two other enjoyable videos with Karen:
Singerie and Lace Skirts.
