We have some brilliant ideas for last minute Christmas gifts and decorations from marbling 4 fun’s Craig Joubert. He shows how easy it is to create some really original gifts, by and for all members of the family. Moreover, the inks are non-toxic. We are also in the studio with knitting expert Rosee Woodland. She shows us a simple but brilliant tip for splicing the ends of hand wash wool together, with no added bulk and in the middle of a row.
Rosee Woodland demonstrated the knitting technique known as Two by Two rib. Which is a variation of the one by one rib, and often used on the edgings of garments. Also, we bring you a fantastic film from our archives. It is a very atmospheric film entitled The Shipping Forecast and shows 31 pieces of fabric and stitchery created by Delia Salter. That take us round the British Isles and this remains Valerie’s personal favourite.
Rosee is back showing us a variety of how to pick up and knit stitches which allows you to head off in different directions. Also you can add other colours into the project. That is great to use up those oddments of yarn that are often left lying around. And we join Carolyn Forster in the studio as she shows us how to create a very effective Castle Wall patchwork block. She is sewing it by hand with a simple running stitch.
