Paula shares this really easy technique with us. All you need to do is be able to trace, cut out and iron. Then you get to sew with a simple zig-zag stitch.
This is a super use of scraps of fabric - particularly the bright ones. These will contrast exceptionally well with the black stained glass effect.
When you get to do the sewing, you will need to use the open-toed applique foot on your sewing machine. However the stitch is just a zig-zag and all machines do that.
Paula has used this technique to create table runners, placemats and suggests that it could be used as a box lid too.
